Over 2 months since I have posted a blog, there’s simply no excuse so I’ll waste no time. Black is classic and perfect, I cannot think of a single occasion or event where I could not wear black! As much as I love black I never thought I could pull off an entire black look. I realized the key is to mix different textures and throw in a pattern! This look above I absolutely love and may try to re-create ( I’ll keep you posted on my re-creation of this outfit). Black and white are popular this season and really it’s just timeless…so go ahead invest in some good black pieces this fall, like black booties or a leather skirt.
PS. No one will think you’re a goth…ok, maybe a chic goth but that’s always fabulous!
Before starting my first full-time job out of college, I never thought about how my life would change. Your time is quickly eaten up by work, commuting, and overtime which leaves little time for a LIFE! Over the past few months I have been trying to balance work, family, friends, a boyfriend and personal time ( wich is why blogging has been sparse). So when I finally got a handle on my workload I knew it was time to have a life again! I finally made time to hang out with a close group of friends at a new restaurant in San Jose called SP2 Communal Bar + Restaurant, where we had an amazing evening of great ambiance, good food and lots of laughs!
If you are planning on dining in Downtown San Jose I would highly recommend SP2. The restaurant has a huge beautiful space with indoor and outdoor seating, a large bar, happy hour and friendly staff. The decor is minimalistic and rustic… like Restoration Hardware meets West Elm. This place is great to go with friends or just for date night we ordered several different plates and sampled each others dishes. I would recommend the mac & cheese, Margherita pizza, and the brussels sprouts! I hear the brunch is also fantastic, I will hopefully try it soon!
I cleaned out everything recently, my closet, drawers, and purse. I realized when it comes to items in my purse there are things I go nowhere without! First, my wallet because it has all the important stuff, but something I recently came to discover is…splurge on a wallet! Similar to a good handbag a quality wallet is totally worth it, pick a color or brand you love and it will make you smile every time you pull it out of your bag!
(my now cleaned out bag)
I can’t leave the house without my Dolce & Gabbana polarized sunglasses which fit me perfectly (sunglasses – another item you should splurge on), my iPhone which basically does most of my thinking for me, and a notebook & pen because you never know when you’ll have an amazing idea! Emergency items like a great body lotion, body spray and bobby pins are essential! I can’t go more than a few hours without applying my chapstick, especially when it smells SO amazing. Lastly, I always have business cards because you never know who you’ll meet, and the card case is just an adorable added bonus ( thanks to my boyfriend).
It may seem early for a Fall post but I have mentioned before that Fall is my FAVORITE season by far! There are so many trends I am loving this season but I put together 5 pieces that encompass a few of the trends I’m loving, or basically items want to wear! Yes, the pieces I chose are expensive, but they are to serve as inspiration…interpret how you choose!
Sometimes my favorite way to accessorize is just throwing on whatever strikes me at the moment. That is how I usually get dressed, but I find myself going back to the same outfits and same pieces. I think every once in a while it is important to go through your closet and create new outfits and this also applies to your jewelry. I have never done this before, but I randomly decided to take out all of my favorite items and lay them on the floor and start piecing them together in combinations I would not usually try. I mixed metals, mixed hard and soft, and I mixed girly and boho. I was pleasantly surprised with the different combinations I came up with and thought I would share my idea so you can be inspired as well and mix up your own accessories!
The weather in Northern California recently has been warm and breezy. The last few nights I have been fortunate enough to enjoy dinner outside and absorb the warm Spring evenings. The recent weather change had me thinking about Summer and how I love entertaining outdoors. I do not have my own home yet, but when I do I know there will be many garden parties to be had. Hear are some of my favorite outdoor entertaining decor ideas. I hope you are inspired and get ideas for your own entertaining this season.
Last week when the weather was warm I took a day trip to the beach with my dear friend Jen (yes her name is Jen too). We decided to bring our reading material and camp out on Capitola beach. Capitola is one of my favorite beach towns, with cute shops restaurants and houses. I had to take pictures that day of course, and the colorful houses were perfect and vibrant against the blue sky. I could not help but think this color palate would make for a great outfit. Based on the colors I saw on the houses I created a cute beach outfit that I would love to have! That day was a great reminder that inspiration is everywhere even at the beach!
Easter is just four days away and if you are going to church, brunch or a bbq show up in style with the perfect outfit for the occasion. I put together a couple of oufit ideas for a dressed up event, semi dressed up occasion, or a casual party. I hope this gives you some ideas, inspiration and in the mood for Spring!
I recently received an email about a new website called Storemate. I have been discovering what it is all about and I have found that it is similar to Pinterest, but for shoppers, bloggers and stylists. The website is still in beta so there are things that are changing and developing. So far I am liking what I am seeing, you can curate your own stores from things you find online, on blogs, or on Pinterest. It is a great way to build a new following, you can even store your outfit posts so people can shop your look from your blog. There are so many possibilities for exposure and not to mention it is fun! To see how it works you can check out my store front here, and see my collection for spring. Try it out for yourself at Storemate.com and to see more about how it works check out the video I posted below.
I love GILES & BROTHER jewelry not only because it is my last name, but because of the classic, fresh, yet simplistic design of their pieces. The only thing stopping me from buying all of the GILES & BROTHER accessories is the price point, which is out of my budget with prices ranging from $50 – $300. Needless to say when I heard about the JewelMint collaboration with GILES & BROTHER I was ecstatic. The same style accessories but at the JewelMint price point ($29.99!!), it can’t get much better than that! Below are some of my favorite pieces from the collaboration, hurry before they are gone!
