Back in Black

Back in Black

Top – Vince Camuto, Skirt- H&M , Booties- Wallis , Purse- Zara, Earrings – Hive & Honey, Nail Polish- Butter London

Over 2 months since I have posted a blog, there’s simply no excuse so I’ll waste no time. Black is classic and perfect, I cannot think of a single occasion or event where I could not wear black! As much as I love black I never thought I could pull off an entire black look. I realized the key is to mix different textures and throw in a pattern! This look above I absolutely love and may try to re-create ( I’ll keep you posted on my re-creation of this outfit). Black and white are popular this season and really it’s just timeless…so go ahead invest in some good black pieces this fall, like black booties or a leather skirt.

PS. No one will think you’re a goth…ok, maybe a chic goth but that’s always fabulous!

A Night With Friends

Before starting my first full-time job out of college, I never thought about how my life would change. Your time is quickly eaten up by work, commuting, and overtime which leaves little time for a LIFE! Over the past few months I have been trying to balance work, family, friends, a boyfriend and personal time ( wich is why blogging has been sparse). So when I  finally got a handle on my workload I knew it was time to have a life again! I finally made time to hang out with a close group of friends at a new restaurant in San Jose called SP2 Communal Bar + Restaurant, where we had an amazing evening of great ambiance, good food and lots of laughs!

If you are planning on dining in Downtown San Jose I would highly recommend SP2. The restaurant has a huge beautiful space with indoor and outdoor seating, a large bar, happy hour and friendly staff. The decor is minimalistic and rustic… like Restoration Hardware meets West Elm. This place is great to go with friends or just for date night we ordered several different plates and sampled each others dishes. I would recommend the mac & cheese, Margherita pizza, and the brussels sprouts! I hear the brunch is also fantastic, I will hopefully try it soon!

I Go Nowhere Without…

Kate Spade Wallet, D&G Sunglasses, EOS Lip Balm, Pacifica Lotion, Victoria Secret Body Mist, Kate Spade Business Card Case, Kate Spade iPhone Case

I cleaned out everything recently, my closet, drawers, and purse. I realized when it comes to items in my purse there are things I go nowhere without! First, my wallet because it has all the important stuff, but something I recently came to discover is…splurge on a wallet! Similar to a good handbag a quality wallet is totally worth it, pick a color or brand you love and it will make you smile every time you pull it out of your bag!

(my now cleaned out bag)

I can’t leave the house without my Dolce & Gabbana  polarized sunglasses which fit me perfectly (sunglasses – another item you should splurge on), my iPhone which basically does most of my thinking for me, and a notebook & pen because you never know when you’ll have an amazing idea! Emergency items like a great body lotion, body spray and bobby pins are essential! I can’t go more than a few hours without applying my chapstick, especially when it smells SO amazing. Lastly, I always have business cards because you never know who you’ll meet, and the card case is just an adorable added bonus ( thanks to my boyfriend).

Excitement for Fall!

It may seem early for a Fall post but I have mentioned before that Fall is my FAVORITE season by far! There are so many trends I am loving this season but I put together 5 pieces that encompass a few of the trends I’m loving, or basically items want to wear! Yes, the pieces I chose are expensive, but they are to serve as inspiration…interpret how you choose!

5 Fall Trends Combo
1. Loving a light color with a heavy fabric like leather or suede
2. Dark lip colors for fall are DIVINE
3.  Blue – Any shade of blue…even mix and match
4. Classic print = leapord + texture = WIN
5. Peep toe booties are the perfect mix of sassy and classy

Happy 4th of July!

DSC_1152I’m a sucker for red, white & blue, anything somewhat patriotic, and because my favorite holiday happens to be the 4th of July when I saw this adorable dress last season I knew that I needed it! Now some people are taking the “not so literal or obvious approach” to 4th of July outfits. But I say why not? It’s the day your outfit can be a little cutsey have fun with it, make it “you” and show your patriotism through your outfit!

Summer Wishlist

Summer Lust List
Summer is here and the warm weather means time for light and flowy frocks! Fall is my favorite season, so when I went to my closet the other day all I noticed was a sea of grey, black, and navy pieces. For so long I stayed away from color because I thought it made me look “young”, but this summer I am experimenting with different ways to incorporate color into my outfits, by wearing a colorful pattern or colored sandals. These items above are some of the summer pieces I am lusting after! This season I am in love with tribal inspired patterns, colored leucite frames, and strappy leather sandals. This outfit is the epitome of what I want to be wearing all summer long!

Summer Maxi

I was so excited when I recently received an email from T.J.maxx congratulating me on winning the Maxxinista of the month! I entered the contest shortly after I did my “interview outfit” post and submitted my photo because the top was from TJMaxx. A month later I was notified my outfit was chosen for the month and would receive a $500 gift card! Smiling from ear to ear when I read this email I began to think of all the amazing things I could buy!! When that gift card came in the mail I could not get out the door fast enough to go shopping.

This dress is one of my finds that I am LOVING, for only $39 I had to buy it, it’s the perfect length for my  tall frame and the slits on the side make it look modern and easy. This is just one of the items I purchased, get ready for many more outfit posts of items I buy with my gift card!

It’s Good To Be Back!

I have had major separation anxiety, because I have not blogged in over 2 months!! That is REALLY bad! So much has been happened, I recently got hired at a local radio station as the Creative Services Coordinator, needless to say I have been busy trying to get my bearings at my first “big” girl job! A month after I was hired I went on a family vacation to Georgia, Alabama and Florida. To show you what I have been up to I thought I would share some of my favorite pictures from the trip!

Favorite Antique store in Atlanta!

I try to collect vintage postcards from places I visit! Loved this one!

Stopped at a Lake House in Alabama for 2 nights.

Re-work Your Jewelry

Sometimes my favorite way to accessorize is just throwing on whatever strikes me at the moment. That is how I usually get dressed, but I find myself going back to the same outfits and same pieces. I think every once in a while it is important to go through your closet and create new outfits and this also applies to your jewelry. I have never done this before, but I randomly decided to take out all of my favorite items and lay them on the floor and start piecing them together in combinations I would not usually try. I mixed metals, mixed hard and soft, and I mixed girly and boho. I was pleasantly surprised with the different combinations I came up with and thought I would share my idea so you can be inspired as well and mix up your own accessories!

The Great Outdoors

1f92d3826c664f1d7ada4bda32252981The weather in Northern California recently has been warm and breezy. The last few nights I have been fortunate enough to enjoy dinner outside and absorb the warm Spring evenings. The recent weather change had me thinking about Summer and how I love entertaining outdoors. I do not have my own home yet, but when I do I know there will be many garden parties to be had. Hear are some of my favorite outdoor entertaining decor ideas. I hope you are inspired and get ideas for your own entertaining this season.
